My Approach

I believe in treating the patient as an individual. I have never believed in a one size fits all method of treating patients. I believe in the development of the relationship between the therapist and the patient as a healing process. I like to see therapy as a process in which the patients gain a greater understanding of themselves and their motivations. This eventually leads not only to symptom alleviation but internal and lasting growth and personal development. Through this therapeutic process, patients can lead more productive and satisfying personal and professional lives.

As a result of my years as a Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Psychoanalyst, and Corporate Consultant, I believe that the process of treating symptoms alone without regard for their cause is futile. In treatment, I believe in the exploration of patient's unconscious and conscious motivations and history as a means of understanding and treating behaviors in the present.

I am also aware that many behaviors are habitual and even when patients understand their motivations they may have difficulty changing their behavior. I am able and willing to employ cognitive behavioral methods when necessary and helpful, particularly in regards to stress management and compulsive issues.

My range of training and experience has increasingly led me to an individual approach to my relationship with patients.
